Professor Ovchinnikov I.G. has a huge (more than 50 years) experience in teaching strength and bridge disciplines at universities in Russia and abroad to bachelors, students and undergraduates, as well as experience in preparing graduate students and doctoral students to defend dissertations.

He is a member of the Dissertation Council on thesis defense and has repeatedly acted as an opponent in the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations

He organized and supervised numerous professional development courses in bridge construction

He participated as a head and contractor in the development of regulatory documents for the transport construction industry.

He has extensive experience in conducting lectures, classes, refresher courses, seminars, conferences (webinars) online using various platforms: Big Blue Button (BBB), Google meet, Zoom, and others.

Professor Ovchinnikov I.G. is invited Professor of the Department of "Bridges and Transport Tunnels" of the Ural State University of Railways, invited Professor of the Department of "Highways and Bridges" of Perm National Research Polytechnic University, invited Professor of the basic Department of JSC Mostostroy-11 of Tyumen Industrial University.

  • Analysis of accidents of transport structures. Progressive collapse of bridges. Modeling of progressive collapse of bridges of different schemes. Prevention of progressive collapse of bridge structures.
  • Ensuring survivability of transport structures.

Training of highly qualified personnel

Under the research supervision of Prof. Ovchinnikov I.G. more than 50 candidate and 4 doctoral theses were defended. Currently Prof. Ovchinnikov I.G. is a member of the dissertation Council in the specialty 2.1.1 at the Penza State University of Architecture and Construction. Also, under the guidance of Ovchinnikov I.G., 5 dissertation theses for the degree of Doctor of Transport in the system of the Russian Academy of Transport were defended.

  • Professional Engineer of Russia (certificate No. 9-27 (2008), winner of the "Engineer of the Year" competition in the "Professional Engineers" version in the "Transport and Road Construction" nomination (2009);
  • The Academician P.P. Melnikova prize, personal medal and diploma for deep professional knowledge and achievements in the field of transport construction (2011);
  • Medal of A.A.Nikolaev, the First Minister of Highways of Russia, for outstanding contribution to the development of road science, impeccable and fruitful work on the education of many generations of scientists and road specialists, the Kurgan Region Governor's Award in the nomination "Innovative activity" for the work "Small bridges — ways of development and prospects of application in the Kurgan region and the Ural Federal District" (2015);
